According to the fossil record, it is believed that birds come from dinosaurs. Findings in China and elsewhere show some dinosaurs with early feathers... as in the pic, right.

Thinking about this, I reckon...

that as most reptiles lay eggs and some of the earlier ones – ie some dinosaurs – 'became' birds, the egg (definitely) preceded the chicken.
